Dreams – One way or the other

What passes on is time, and what get spent is us. So before you get totally spent, live that dream you are counting on all your life.

This doesn’t make any sense

But well not everything does, not everything has to.

now I am gonna touch the age old ghisa-pita discussion of what race are you racing in! You don’t have control over your birth, your religion, your caste, the economical situation you get born into and the kind of schooling you get.. nothing. You grow up, see other kids passing their board exams, getting into the college and then graduate, so do you! You are lucky if you get a job among thousand candidates for a single vacancy otherwise you go for something which can at least earn you daily bread and butter, you get a girl according to your stability and financial conditions, you marry, manufacture children, apply same cycle to them and then on one fine day your heartbeat stops.

Well, that’s it. Everyone among us is doing it with or without realizing it. Nothing new and nobody is special.

Oh, but wait there is always a thing that makes you special. The thing you buried down years ago. Your dream. yes!! That poor little thing which you never nurtured. Ohh boy..

Don’t push me hard

I will fall off cliff

The stones at the base

Will rip my skip apart

And the vultures will wait

To see me die

And I will never reach

The other end that is far away

I beg you..

Don’t worry, O darling

Then came a voice

Drifting through the skies

Finding its way to my soul

I have got your back

And of everyone

Who dare

Dare to dream

Just think, O darling

What if you could fly

There are two definitions of dream as per oxford dictionary. The important one being, ‘A cherished aspiration, ambition, or ideal.’ Now, dream is a time-relative thing. They are short term (like cracking some difficult exam) or long-term (being on Mars one day). They change as you grow up. But what remains same is the connection. So, for some passive thinkers, authors or even your parents who talk about the harsh reality of having dreams & ambitions and practically anyone shouldn’t go for one because there are many scenarios where they won’t even pay your monthly bills, I would say, they are partially incorrect and being ignorant about that connection here. Let me explain you with an example.

I always wanted to be an astronaut and go for the moon and the stars till I hit puberty. Then for some time I wanted to be an actor who dances with beautiful actresses. Then in late teens, things started turning real and I dreamt of being a space scientist at NASA. Then, I don’t know why and I did my undergrad in Computer Science from a good college. There, I wanted to be an entrepreneur and try some new ideas to implement. Then when I was back to square one because it all failed, I took admission for post-grad again in a good college. Then, things like Artificial Intelligence interested me. Then….. Oh.. I can’t foresee the future 😀  I am still here at this point in spacetime.

Now, you see, dreams changed over the period because of several factors, and it’s not like I was less passionate about some or the other. But, if you analyze it further, you can see that a search for something new, something unknown interests me. That’s my call. So, now what? Now I just have to find some commercially viable thing/career which satisfies this need and which will eventually shut down the blabbering mouths of parents and those passivists. Isn’t that fulfilling a dream, I mean even practically?

Don’t worry, even if you play some sort of music which can transcend you to some other world and think other people will also like it but getting suppressed by the rules and customs of our ‘income’ seeking society and doing their mechanical engineering somewhere. It’s alright. Understand yourself and try to find that connection. Find your call. Everything will be fine 🙂 And maybe one day, we all will see you as one of the genius who started that extraordinary music company which synthesized all mechanical motion sounds in the universe, with his co-founder found the musical A.I. and produced the greatest symphony ever played on this planet. Wait for it!

The point being, never ever, ever give up on your dreams. One way or the other 🙂
